Auto Italia Galleria
Here are a selection of my favourite photographs from recent features. Each one is special to me, either because I really like the subject, or because I'm pleased with the final result. I have added a few tips for fellow enthusiastic photographers - although I don't want to give all my secrets away! I will keep updating these pages on a regular basis. Happy snapping!

A brace of Abarths
A leaden sky hints at the weather we photographers have to battle with in the later months of the year.
Shot for an upcoming feature.

Abarth 1000 TC
These great little cars were real giant killers back in the day.

Abarth 1000 TC
This example is one of the best you'll find. Recently sold by Berni Motori to a UK collector.

A Trio of Abarths
I put the new 500 esse esse at the back as it towers above the older cars.

Abarths Simca 2000
Very rare and just beautiful. This one is largely original, having spent most of it's post-competition life in a museum.
Feature to follow soon.

Maserati MC12
This race winning Maserati just happened to be at Adria when we were testing Reiter Engineering Lamborghinis, we couldn't resist shooting it.

Maserati MC12
Arguably a better looking race car than the Ferrari Enzo it was based upon.

Maserati MC12
Flame breathing monster, here being tested at the Adria raceway - near Venice.

Maserati Merak, Lamborghini Urraco and Ferrari 308 GT4
A great selection of affordable seventies supercars. Unlike Top Gear we managed not to destroy this trio.

Ferrari V8
The Ferrari V8, this one is ready to back into a 308.

Fiat Twin Cam
Possibly the most Iconic Fiat engine. This one is a Guy Croft prepared 1438cc variant.

Fiat 500 / 126
Compact to say the least, the Fiat 500 derived 126 engine.

Alfa Romeo V6
This engine is the superb sounding Alfa Romeo V6.

Maserati V8 engine
We ran a popular series of landmark engine features. This engine is from a Maserati Bora.

Maserati A6GCS
Such a good looking racing car. Powered by 6 cylinder engine.

Maserati A6GCS
A stunning historic Maserati, in french blue. Here shot at our test track on a crisp winter morning.

Maserati A6GCS
One of the best looking racing Maseratis, being driven here by Roberto Giordanelli.

Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale
In my opinion the most beautiful car in the world.
Featured in Issue 164 Nov/Dec 2009
Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale
Oddly enough this is a view most don't get to see. Still a smooth uncluttered design.

Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale
Photographed at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese. Alfa generously brought the Tipo 33 out into the daylight for us to shoot.
Featured in Issue 164 Nov/Dec 2009

BLOODLINES
This shot was for our Alfa 8-Cylinder Heritage Special Feature (Issue 149). The glorious 8C Competizione and Montreal meets the Legendary P3. All that was missing was Nuvolari behind the wheel of the P3 - the noise that thing makes is something else! If you want to get a back issue of this feature just click here.

BLOODLINES
A low look at the wonderful 8C. No rig used here just leaning out the back of a moving car and trying not to drop the camera. Featured in issue 149.
Just click here.

Alfa Romeo P3
Featured in issue 149. Just click here.

Alfa Romeo Montreal
A very close and wide angle view of the much maligned Montreal. Featured in issue 149. Just click here.
Aguzzoli Track TestHere's a selection of images taken of the Aguzzoli at a test track called Franciacorte.
The Aguzzoli is a very rare Alfa Romeo powered prototype with more than a nod to the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33
Featured in Issue 136 - September / October 2007

Aguzzoli Track Test
This shot was taken from a moving car, hand held at 1/25th sec with a Nikon D200 and Nikkor 24mm lens.
Featured in Issue 136 - September / October 2007

Aguzzoli Track Test
The owner had to sell this little car along with a few other in his collection to fund his new toy, a Michele Alboreto Ferrari F1 car.

Ferrari 512S
The Ferrari 512 is one of the most iconic Le Mans racers. Here is a selection of images that didn't make it into the recent feature.
Featured in Issue 163

Ferrari 512S
This Ferrari 512 belongs to Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason.
It was badly damaged in the making of the cult Steve McQueen movie Le Mans.
Featured in Issue 163

Ferrari 512S
A classic motorsport action image. Although the action is frozen, Mr Hales was really motoring through this left hander at Cadwell Park.
Featured in Issue 163

Ferrari 512S
I really like a well panned action photo. The aim is to get the entire car sharp by using a shutterspeed slow enough to create lots of movement in the back and foreground. In this case 1/50th sec.
Featured in Issue 163

Ferrari 512S
A low level tracking shot here. Acheived without any special equipment just a hatchback and a steady hand.
Featured in Issue 163

LANCIA ANNIVERSARY
Always had a soft spot for these cars, especially the integrale models - probably due to their rallying heritage. This is a pretty standard car-to-car tracking shot, one of the difficulties is getting the drivers to actually realise they need to drive closely together without hitting each other!
