Lamborghini Reventón

High-flying Lambo

Lamborghini unveiled their stealth fighter-inspired Reventón supercar at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The extreme supercar costs a cool one million euros excluding taxes and is based around the powerful 6.2-litre V12 engine and well-sorted AWD chassis of the Murciélago LP640.

The Reventón’s radical sharp-edge styling has not only managed to cause the required attention, but it also ably demonstrates the abilities of Lamborghini’s own in-house design capabilities at the Centro Stile Lamborghini, located at the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese. Since it’s launch the Reventón has been awarded with l’Automobile più Bella del Mondo 2007 in its respective class, a prestigious award selected by a panel of famous designers, artists and architects.

Both the interior and exterior of the aggressive-looking Reventón was inspired by the US Air Force’s F-22 Raptor stealth fighter and includes touches such as the camouflage grey-green interior, aluminium fuel filler cap and fighter aircraft inspired electric display cockpit instrument cluster.

Only 20 units of the exclusive Reventón are to be built, all of which were sold out prior to the German Motor Show.

The Reventón name was chosen according to Lamborghini tradition. Reventón was a fighting bull, owned by the Don Rodriguez family. It is included in the list of the most famous bulls ever and is known for killing the famed bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.

Most recently the Reventón has challanged an extreme test in acceleration against a Panavia-built Tornado to be delivered to the Italian Air Force. The challenge took place at the Italian Air Force’s base at Ghedi near Brescia, which has a 3 km long runway, ideal for the side-by-side ‘drag’ race. In the showdown the Reventón took an early lead against the Tornado thanks to its 0-100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds, but just as the Lamborghini was reaching its top speed of 340 km/h and with a few metres of tarmac remaining, the jet fighter had left the tarmac and was passing over its roofline.
